ONE Rim Seal Series full-contact rim seal technology for floating roof tanks

ONE Rim Seal
Series

Spring-Loaded Full-Contact Rim Seal Technology

Application-specific rim seal technology for reliable emission control, floating roof centering and safe operation under real tank shell conditions.

Introduction

ONE Rim Seal Series is WLI’s spring-loaded full-contact rim seal technology for internal and external floating roof applications. The system is designed to maintain continuous contact with the tank shell throughout the required working range and to support reliable emission control under real operating conditions.

Each ONE rim seal is engineered according to the actual tank geometry, measured rim space, floating roof design, tank shell condition, stored product and operating requirements. This project-specific approach is essential where tank out-of-roundness, shell buckling, rim space variations or dynamic floating roof movements affect sealing performance.

The ONE Rim Seal Series includes primary and secondary rim seal solutions, wax scraper technology, rain guard options and complementary rim-area equipment for new-build and retrofit projects.

Why ONE ?

Designed for Real Tank Geometry

In real-world tank operation, shell out-of-roundness is inevitable. Conventional seal systems with limited working ranges can lose contact with the tank shell when floating roofs move out of center or when tank shell irregularities occur. This can result in exposed liquid surfaces, vapor losses, rainwater ingress and reduced operational safety. The ONE design was developed specifically to address these issues through a larger working range and application-specific engineering.

Key advantages:

  • Working range concept R(-X/+3X)

  • Tailored X-values according to tank geometry and rim space conditions

  • Compensation of tank shell out-of-roundness and local shell irregularities

  • Continuous full-contact sealing performance throughout the required working range

  • Improved floating roof centering

  • Damping of horizontal floating roof movements

Applications:

The ONE Rim Seal Series can be applied to:

  • Internal floating roofs

  • External floating roofs

  • Steel floating roofs

  • GRP / GRE composite floating roofs

  • New-build tanks

  • Retrofit projects

  • Floating roof upgrades for improved emission performance

  • Tanks with increased tank shell out-of-roundness or rim space variation

ONE Primary Seal spring-loaded full-contact gas-tight primary rim seal

ONE Primary Seal

Spring-Loaded Full-Contact Gastight Primary Rim Seal

The ONE Primary Seal is designed as a gastight, spring-loaded full-contact primary rim seal. It maintains contact with the tank shell throughout the required working range and helps compensate present and future tank shell irregularities as well as tank out-of-roundness.

The primary seal is engineered for the specific rim space and floating roof configuration. The gas-tightness of the primary membrane and the gas-tight connection to the floating roof can be tested after installation and, where the floating roof is accessible, during tank operation.

Key advantages:

  • Spring-loaded full-contact primary seal design

  • Gastight primary sealing concept

  • Working range R(-X/+3X)

  • Tailored X-values for project-specific rim space conditions

  • Installation options for existing roof rim configurations without hot work

  • Material selection according to the chemical environment

  • Conductive and flame-retardant material options according to project requirements

  • Designed for virtually maintenance-free operation under specified service conditions

  • Turnkey installation by WLI’s qualified field service team

ONE Secondary Seal spring-loaded rim-mounted secondary seal for floating roofs

ONE Secondary Seal

Spring-Loaded Full-Contact Rim-Mounted Secondary Seal

The ONE Secondary Seal is designed to maintain circumferential contact with the tank shell and to reduce air circulation and rainwater ingress in the secondary seal area. Its multilayer sealing tip helps compensate shell irregularities, while the low-profile design supports usable tank capacity compared with higher secondary seal arrangements.

Key advantages:

  • Spring-loaded rim-mounted secondary seal design

  • Multilayer sealing tip for improved sealing performance

  • Working range R(-X/+3X)

  • Tailored X-values to accommodate tank out-of-roundness

  • Low-profile configuration

  • Design concept to prevent seal flipping under operating conditions

  • Material selection according to climate and chemical environment

  • Compatible with ONE Primary Seal configurations

ONE Wax Scraper bi-directional wax scraper for floating roof operation

ONE Wax Scraper

Bi-Directional Wax Scraper Technology

The ONE Wax Scraper is designed for floating roof applications where wax build-up at the tank shell can affect tank operation. The scraper modules are engineered according to the actual tank diameter and installed to support effective scraping during both upward and downward floating roof travel.

Key advantages:

  • Bi-directional scraping during roof up and down movement

  • Project-specific scraper blade radius

  • Stainless steel scraper blades and scraper skids

  • Conductive design

  • Integration with ONE rim seal engineering

  • Suitable for retrofit and new-build floating roof projects

ONE Rain Guard rim-area rainwater control for floating roof rim seals

ONE Rain Guard

Rim-Area Rainwater Control

The ONE Rain Guard is an optional rim-area component for applications where rainwater ingress at the tank shell must be further reduced. It is designed as part of the ONE rim seal concept and can be used in combination with the ONE Secondary Seal where project conditions require additional rainwater control.

Key advantages:

  • Optional rainwater control module for rim-area applications

  • Designed to remain effective under tank shell out-of-roundness conditions

  • Integration with ONE Secondary Seal configuration

  • Project-specific engineering according to tank shell and rim space conditions
